Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) Grant – Upgrade to a Heat Pump with Government Funding
Thinking about replacing your boiler? The Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) helps property owners switch to low-carbon heating by offering an upfront grant towards a heat pump system installation.
In addition to this, Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) installations currently benefit from 0% VAT. This government incentive makes switching to an energy-efficient, low-carbon heating system even more affordable.
At Elite Heat Group, we can advise you on the types and suitability for your home, explain what’s involved, and provide a clear quotation so you know exactly what is involved.

How much is the grant?
BUS currently provides:
- £7,500 towards an Air Source Heat Pump or a Ground Source Heat Pump
- The installer applies for the grant on your behalf with Ofgem and the BUS voucher is deducted from the installation cost.
Am I eligible?
You qualify if:
- You’re replacing an existing gas, LPG, oil or electric heating system
- The installation is carried out by an MCS-certified installer
- The system meets scheme requirements (including size limits)
Why Upgrade?
Switching to low-carbon heating brings multiple benefits:
- Lower carbon emissions — cleaner heating for a greener future
- Reduced running costs — heat pumps can be cheaper to run than older boilers
- Increased property value — modern energy systems are attractive to buyers
- Energy efficiency improvements — especially when combined with insulation upgrades
What’s the process?
- Initial chat & basic checks (property type, current heating, your usage levels)
- Home survey and system recommendation – honest guidance on system type suitability and running costs
- Full quote including grant details
- Quality Installation and commissioning on completion
